Name:
Priscacara liops Age: Eocene Formation: Green River Formation Location: Kemmerer, Wyoming Size: Fish is 6 inches long
This is a classic fossil fish. It is a large Priscacara liops from the Eocene of Wyoming. This ''sunfish-type'' is one of the most sought-after fish from the Green River Formation. This specimen is from the harder ''18 inch layer'' and is beautifully preserved. Although the head is somewhat disarticulated, the bone structure is well defined, and the fins and tail are wonderfully displayed. Even the sharp spines of the dorsal fin are intact and make for a striking display. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is nicely presented on the rectangular plate of unbroken matrix. This is a very affordable specimen of Priscacara liops from the Green River Formation.
